Fat Girl Goes Fit: Joining VShred

Hey ya'll! Not sure why I said ya'll, but I typed it anyway. Welcome to the first post of one of my blog series called, "Fat Girl Goes Fit." In this series, I will be blogging as best I can about diet/fitness trends I, personally, will be trying out. The goal here is to track my own progress and hopefully inspire others to take a step into getting fit. However, I am no professional so take what I say with a grain of salt. Plus, I have become an active walker, so I may recommend some places to hike or explore, but that's a work in progress.

Let me give you a rundown on who I am. I'm a plus size girl (over 200+ lbs). About a year ago, I was diagnosed with HBP (high blood pressure) and type-2 diabetes. Both of these run on one side of my family. I'm laying myself flat on a platter here. As of now, I still have HBP, but I was able to reverse my diabetes. Last I checked in with my doctors a few months ago, I am pre-diabetic. This was done through doing a low-carb diet. I want to be clear, I am not on the keto diet. Low-carb requires less fat intake and a slightly higher carb intake (according to random compilations of researchers and a dietician my doctor recommended). Anyway, enough about me, let's get back to what this blog post is really about: VShred!

I wanted to make a change for myself in 2021, so I started trying to walk my dog more and up my cardio in combination with my low-carb diet. Needless to say, I hit many rough days where I couldn't keep up with my diet or I lacked the energy to workout. (Note: Forgot to mention I have terrible insomnia). A few weeks ago, I took my dog to the vet and was told he needed to lose some "pandemic weight". This happened to coincide with me coming across a video from VShred's YouTube account. I have been subscribed to VShred for a year or so now because I like the workout videos and I had a time in my life where I wanted to learn about "carb-cycling". (Personally, carb-cycling does not work for my body type. I gained lots of fat and felt like absolute crap 3 days out of the week). Anyway, this new video was about a women who went on and joined VShred and tried their Fat Loss Extreme program. Her story was inspiring! Annnnnd, if I'm being totally honest, I bought into the same program during a night of terrible insomnia. Ladies, hide those credit cards if you are drunk or exhausted! Though it turns out, this was probably the best decision of my fitness life.

I am currently going into my 2nd week of VShred (or day 7 of the Fat Loss Extreme workouts). My review of these workouts so far is they are quick. When you click on them, don't let the 18 minute mark detour you. They are compiled HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts, so you are doing 20 second sets of different workouts. I do highly recommend a thick yoga mat because y'girl has bad knees and crappy arm strength, so the thicker mat helped me push through these workouts. You really notice a huge difference in energy levels and how slimming you start to feel a couple days in. Not going to lie to you, I purchased their BURN supplements as well. I started taking 1 a day about 3 days into the Fat Loss Extreme program. I am pleasantly surprised by how amazing I feel and how much endurance I now have. So far, I am LOVING VShred. This is not even a paid sponsorship. I truly love VShred and how they make resources so accessible to you. I will continue to monitor my progress, but I would easily give VShred a 8.5/10. I dock it down points just because they are expensive and when you order the supplements they never send you a tracking number. Do try it if you can though. Heck, if you don't like it and it's not working for you, they offer to fully refund you! How amazing is that?

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. I do want to let you know that I try to walk 10k steps 5 days a week using my FitBit so that my dog gets his workout in and I have a meditation space for myself, but I can talk more on that another day. Until next time, go grab some water and let's get fit together!

Much love,

Leena Ravenwood

Well, well, well...I am back. Seems I'm always disappearing, but I have finally made it back on here. Truth be told, it's been so long...
